Exploring equity and inclusion in Malawi’s National Disability Mainstreaming Strategy and Implementation Plan

Abstract Background Equity and inclusion are important principles in policy development implementation. The aim of this study is to explore the extent which equity were considered Malawi’s National Disability Mainstreaming Strategy Implementation Plan. Methods We applied an analytical methodology review Plan using EquIPP (Equity Inclusion Policy Processes) tool. tool assesses 17 Key Actions inclusion. Results Malawi was informed by a desire promote rights, opportunities wellbeing persons with disability Malawi. majority (58%) received rating three, indicating evidence clear, but incomplete or only partial engagement disabilities process. Three (18%) four that all reasonable steps engage process observed. Four (23%) score five reference Action core documents Conclusions policies associated implementation strategies requires equitable inclusive processes consider input from stakeholders especially those whose depend on such policies. It pivotal for government organisations strategy implementation, involve virtuous co-production – co-implementation co-evaluation, may strengthen both sense effectiveness life-cycle.
